The Antigua and Barbuda National Parks Authority recently appeared on the Antigua Barbuda Today Show, where Desley Gardner, Heritage Resources Supervisor, and Alijah Richards represented the Authority in a lively discussion about everything happening within Nelson’s Dockyard National Park.

A Living World Heritage Site
As highlighted on the programme, the National Parks Authority is responsible for managing and protecting Nelson’s Dockyard National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Antigua and Barbuda’s most treasured landmarks.
Once the base of the British Royal Navy in the Caribbean, the Dockyard remains the only continuously operating Georgian-era dockyard in the world. A relaxed waterfront dining experience hosted weekly at the Mainbrace Restaurant & Pub. Guests can enjoy classic brunch favourites, chef specials, and a vibrant atmosphere every Sunday from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
Seafood Friday
A lively start to the weekend, Seafood Friday offers fresh seafood, live music, and interactive cooking stations along the waterfront at the Copper & Lumber Store Hotel. From grilled lobster to made-to-order seafood pasta, it’s an experience not to be missed.
Rum in the Ruins
Led by Desley Gardner herself, this weekly experience at Dow’s Hill Interpretation Centre combines history, archaeology, and storytelling with sunset views and a signature rum cocktail.

Clarence House Tours
Visitors can step inside one of the most historic homes in English Harbour, once used to host dignitaries such as Queen Elizabeth II and Winston Churchill, and now beautifully restored as a museum.
In addition to these experiences, guided tours are also available throughout the Dockyard and surrounding areas, offering deeper insight into the park’s rich history and natural environment.
