Sandy Flats

Sandy areas often form a medium between seagrass beds and other ecosystems. They provide habitats for a variety of crustaceans and molluscs (crabs, etc.) and other marine life. These in turn provide food for a variety of larger creatures (e.g. snappers and rays). Sandy flats are often a major feeding ground at night.
